There are mainly 4 steps to cut a special shape on the metal sheet with a 50W fiber laser marking machine
Step 1: Preparation for laser cutter
Use vector graphics design software to create vector graphics for cutting. You can choose design software such as CorelDRAW, AutoCAD, Illustrator, etc. After the graphic design is completed, it needs to be saved in formats such as DXF, AI, PLT, etc.
Step 2: Configure software environment
This step is not necessary, the laser cutter software is already installed when the laser equipment leaves the factory. But if the laser equipment manufacturer does not have a corresponding computer configured, you need to take this step because you need to use your computer to control engraving.
- Copy the folder containing the EZCAD software to your own computer. The EZCAD software is in the [U DISK] folder, so I copied and pasted it. Click the [EzCad2.exe], and right-click to send it to the [Desktop].
- Make sure you know where the driver is. You’ll use it later.
- Go back to the desktop, and right-click [computer]. You need to know the Windows version. Win7 and Win10 will be OK, and you should know whether it is 64-bit or 32-bit. Usually, we use 64 bits.
- Right-click [computer]-> Manage, insert the USB port from the laser machine.
- Click the [Device Manager], and [USBLMCV2] appears.
- Right click [USBLMCV2], update the driver that has been noted in step (2). You can choose [Browse my computer for driver software], and locate the [LMCY4_KL…] folder. Let your computer always trust it and install it.
Step 3 Parameter settings of laser cutter
- Make sure you have plugged the USB interface before you double-click [[EzCad2.exe]. Import the vector file, such as [example.plt].
- Click the [Green Button] and [Red Button] to start the laser marker.
- Find the focus. Switch the handheld device and move the laser head up and down to ensure that the laser focus is on the working surface. The distance between the laser head and the marking surface is determined by the LENS installed on laser marking machine. For example, 268mm.

If you don’t know the parameters of the galvanometer, you can move the laser head up and down to watch the energy, like in the video below . It has the strongest energy when the laser is on the surface.
Step 4 Cutting the metal sheet below 0.5mm
- Set [Mark Loop] [Speed][Power].
- Click [Light / F1] to preview the cutting shape.
- Click [Esc] to exit preview mode, and click [Make / F2]. If you want to STOP, you can click [Esc] on the keyboard. If you know the number of cycles for cutting, you can directly set it in the settings of [Mark Loop].
